Beng Long 蚌龙 2022
A strong, relatively bitter tea from the Meng Song area close to Menghai.
Beng Long 蚌龙 is a small village in the Meng Song area in Menghai, Xishuangbanna. This tea is made from 50 - 70 year old trees, that grow on an elevation of 1800m in a good natural environment.
The tea has been picked in spring 2022 and then stored as Mao Cha for a year in Jinghong before being pressed into small 100g cakes.
Since then it's been stored in a controlled storage at 20-25C and 65% rH.
The wet leaves have a flowery, a bit herbal scent. The first brews taste quite round and leave a bit of a citrus like sensation in the mouth.
The energy from this tea is more of the punchy type, but this is, of course, very subjective.
We just tasted this tea recently again (2026) and surpringly it's already much less astringent then 4 years ago.
We tried this tea multiple times as Mao Cha (unpressed Puerh) and felt it being great as a tea for traveling or a daily drinker.
