Yi Bang 倚邦 2018

Yi Bang 倚邦

This tea has been stored in Jinghong, in the south of Yunnan, for over 6 years. This has transformed the tea into a round full body gem.

The wet leaves have a deep, flowery smell. The brew is sweet and has notes of dried fruit and honey. Later steeps add a nice bit of bitterness that is not overpowering, but merges perfectly into the multi layered taste profile.

This tea has a relaxing, yet energising effect. It’s great for enjoying it over a longer tea session. It’s one of these teas that always asks for another sip, while at the same time demanding some time to pause to enjoy the aftertaste and observe.

Tea leaves from Yi Bang are rather small. Some sources claim that small leave variety was introduced during the Qing dynasty from Sichuan. But, it might also be that the leaves became smaller due to mutation.

Yi Bang is one of the ancient six famous tea mountains in Yunnan and its tea has served as a tribute tea in the past.
