He Kai 贺开 2023 - Sheng Pu'er with deep flowery notes
He Kai 贺开
He Kai 贺开 is the first mountain Southwest of Menghai town, the next closest city. It’s about a 40 minutes car ride over a few hills to the first village on the He Kai mountain. The village offers a beautiful view over the vast valley with its melon plantations. From there a steeper road goes up to Banpen and further to Lao Ban Zhang.
Up on the mountain tea grows in the forest in a diverse natural environment.
The first brew has a round texture and already a quite deep flowery sweet and slightly bitter taste. This sets the tone for the following steeps that increase the intensity. One can notice He Kai’s proximity to other strong tea growing places in the greater Ban Zhang area.
This tea was picked in spring 2023 and carefully pressed in autumn 2024. We decided to let this tea dry naturally to preserve all flavours as much as possible. A year stored in Jinghong contributed to a more balanced taste of the tea.

Camellia Sinensis Assamica - large leave
For all our Puerh teas we recommend Gong Fu style brewing using 5-8g of tea on 100ml water. Rinse the tea briefly and then do repeating steeps (up to 6-12) of 10-20 seconds.
